    6 months....

looking at the previous entry, it was entered at exactly 6 months ago......... can't believe how quickly 6 months can go by.....

i have to catch up and start running faster.....

    march 3, 2008

Feb. 26, 2008 had became a big day for me, as one of my final interview with HR and on March 3, I’m back to HQ....

for the past 6 months, i have worked in the casino with shift work that change quite often, i do met a bunch of friends there, and hopefully will still have contact with them...

I’ve been trying to catch up my life with friends and relatives, but once you on a rotation with day off during the weekday, it become very difficult....

i spent 2 and a half month to reach the lvl 70 in World of Warcraft, which is a normal standard and some I’ve heard it only took them a month.....  for those who like RPG, i am strongly recommended, but if you don't have a girlfriend or wife to take care, it consumes more time than you can afford....

my wii been sitting closely to the TV without running a single game since late October, since i pick up WOW....... warning, wow is deadly...

back to the office for the third day and finally find a time slot to resume my blog, as i have mentioned before, u must be quite bored at work in order to start writing on ur blog....  to cow, no wonder your blog is so up-to-date.....

    I’m back….

    Venetian Resort

my impression about the new Venetian hotel and casino in macau is very positive, although, there ain't enough transportation to "bus" in customers, but the buses are running non stop from ferry dock to the casino.

the impression starts when u walk in the door, u see over hundred of travelers waiting for check in, which i'm surprised to see in a world class hotel.  The building is HUGE, in fact, one of the biggest building i have even attended - i've been to Chicago airport, Metro Toronto Convention Center, Scarborough town center....  The hallway is at least 40 meters wide, yes, the avenue standard in North American.  A lot of overhead drawings, the water canal is up on the third floor, a lot of performances, huge casinos, excellent indoor shopping venue, you can find everything you need under one roof.

food could be expensive, a friend of mine told me 4 beeers (good german beers) + 2 hamburgers for $500 with change.

depending if you are a food eater or gambler, u have to spend some money in the Venetian...  i dropped 2g in about an hour!! 8)

    last call for bets...............

    lunch for less

the most economical restaurant i found so far is a $21 dinner set with soup, and dish + rice.

went out to lunch with a group of colleagues, all of them are managers, and went to a place for $15, which i can't believe it actually provided a better eating environment than most other restaurants i know in the area.

    with AC, TV....

    blog

i said that blog is for those who have extra time in their life, i have to agree with that one more time, b/c after i worked in the new place, i didn't have time to update it all, even knowing that i won't have time to update, my friend still visit my blog everyday.....

    appreciated!!

i will definitely come up with something shortly....

    quote of the day

learn to follow when you can't lead, and lead when you can't follow.

    Hong Kong Queen's Pier

When i was watching tv on one of the live debate yesterday, there were a number of advocates who wanted to protect the Queen’s Pier in Central, they lived there for two months and wanted the government to change their plan to preserve a dock which was built a little over 50 years ago.

The Queen's Pier was a traditional landing point for British governors and royalty when they arrived on Hong Kong Island during colonial times. Queen Elizabeth II landed there in 1975. Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales, also landed there in November 1989. The pier was also a public pier. Pleasure crafts were allowed to dock. Some Hong Kongers also take pleasure in fishing at the pier. (
    http://jmsc.hku.hk/hkstories/content/view/79/844/)

Hong Kong Institue of Architects Chairman Bernard Lam said the pier has historical value. The structure of the pier consists of tiled concrete base and pillars. Assistant Professor of Department of Architecture of University of Hong Kong, Lee Ho-yin, said the pier does not have particular architectural value. (http://jmsc.hku.hk/hkstories/content/view/79/844/)

Perhaps you will question why do i quote these information, but i'm trying to express this is professional opinion base on personal evaluation.  If you have a strong emotion attached to any of this location, you properly going to miss it more than other.  And you can easily find another professional opinion which will suggest otherwise.

These advocates mainly are students in their very early 20's, suggesting how important it is to preserve the dock, because they are fluently used by TV drama and other ceremonies.

Several issues are linked here to demonstrate how immature the Hong Kong political culture are.  If you believe in representative / democracy election, you should have voice out your concern to your Area Council, and let them voice out your concern on your behalf at the legislature.

Secondly, you are only presenting a small group of minority who are interested in preserving, but the majority of citizens may agree to demolish the Pier, so how representing is your group.

Thirdly, who are you really representing? The Citizen? NGO?

And lastly, what kind of impact will affect your life if the Pier is preserved and if it is demolished?

You may never worked, studied or traveled to that part of the city during the day, and never understand how the government system works in order to remain as one of the a tax free cities in the world.  But should your interest in preserving the Pier greater than the benefit to entertain the general public once the new project is completed.  And what make you think and consider your suggestion is more appropriate than other professionals, who have proposed their proposal to the government?

    Windows Mobile 6

    Background information.

Windows Mobile 6 for short WM6, is a new Operating system for PDA phone.  For newer models, there are a lot of official updates to WM6, but for my year old Dopod 838, life ain't the same.

    Story.

After some serious searching, I finally got myself with a 838 WM6 rom last thursday july 12, 07 to upgrade my phone, can't believe another week has passed like that, today is July 19.

Anyhow, i forgot to bring the cable back to the office on thursday and accidentally reseted my phone, so i got no contact on my phone for two days, since i'm in macau, no one really call me here, so it wasn't a problem at all.

when i'm heading back to hk on friday, for some reason, i also forgot to bring the cable back to hk, so i have to borrow one from one of my best friends Chris. my other best friend leslie used to have an O2, then a 838 as well, but he decided the LG chocolate limited edition is more attractive, so he changed, and finally got himself a nokin 6300 with $400 back!!...

I followed the instruction and started to flash (upgrade) my phone, up to 96%, either my laptop went to sleep or the stupid screen saver pops up, i got disconnected.... and i don't know what to do, cause my PDA windows won't start......

after spending 1 days reading information about how to overcome this situation, i was able to get my phone back to the normal stage... (sometime, no change is better) after all the time spent, i went back to square one.....

i learn my lesson in a hard way and decided if i'm going to do anything, it better be done back here in macau..... so i synced my contact back.......

on monday, after spending another couple hours trying, reading and testing, at 12:15, i have announced the successful completion of WM6 upgrade on my PDA phone. it works much faster than the previous version, and during the next two days, i have also tested 5 different versions including a simplified chinese..

the interface of the phone is much nicer....

    passport part 3

the final decision was to head up to Zhuihai and came back, so i woke up in the morning, walked to the bus station and took the bus to the border gate, there ain't much ppl on the street or on the bus at 9:15

exiting Macau was not a problem using my ID, nor to enter China with my "return to village card"...

it took about 30 mins to become standing on the China soil, there is an underground shopping center just outside the border, and my plan was to walk around before i return to Macau.... however, at 945 in the morning, not too many stores are open, so for my personal safety, i decided to come back at once to avoid any kidnap, robberty, or hijack...

so i presented my passport to the Custom Officer and waiting in front of the desk, the CO (Customer office) went over my passport and seems like he was searching for something, then he asked "do you have the return to village card", i replied "yes", he said "it is better if you present that piece of document as well"

I guess "custom" are different in different country. of course, my entry is accepted and gained a one month stay in Macau....

    passport story 2

the folks at HR told me that i have to go back to hk and enter macau with my passport, i guess by now, u all know how i got in!!..

but at the same time, there are two solutions floating in my head...

one solution is to get a ferry ticket at $130, get my seat for the ferry, go to the dock level, but come back in the arrival side without boarding the ship, actually there is no restriction to prohibit this from happening...

the other solution is to go to china and then enter back with the passport

after thinking the potential benefit of heading to hk and come back, to buy a ticket without going to hk or to take the FREE shuttle to the border gate, the choice is obvious.

however, such a short trip took much longer than i have anticipated...

stay tune for the part 3 of passport story.....

    passport story

due to working permit, i need to use my passport to apply for it...

HR told me to leave it with them, so they can go do the paper work... i make an appointment at 10:30, but i was a little late, they told me i can get it back before the end of the day.

no one called me about the status until 6:30, and i did left the office at 6:00, and the by time they have called, i was half way home..  The guy asked me if i'm interested to go back to the office to pick them up, i think the option is simple, and i told the guys, i will be there tmr morning.

I went there this morning, and no one seems to be in the office, they left me no contact number, so i have to come back to the office and send them an email... finally got the passport back, but nothing has been done, because i need to use my passport to enter macau....

so what is ahead of me is a "out of the country" run...

this is the part 1 of the passport story.....

    New Seven Wonders of World

Do you know what are the seven wonders of world....

    1. Petra
    2. Christ the Redeemer
    3. Machu Picchu
    4. Colosseum
    5. Chicken Itza
    6. Taj Mahal
    7. Great Wall

    joke 2

After numerous rounds of "We don't even know if Osama is still alive," Osama himself decided to send George Bush a letter in his own handwriting to let him know he was still in the game.

Bush opened the letter and it appeared to contain a single line of coded message: 370HSSV-0773H.

Bush was baffled, so he faxed it to Condi Rice.

Condi and her aides had no clue either, so they sent it to the FBI.

No one could solve it at the FBI so it went to the CIA, then to the NSA.

With no clue as to its meaning they eventually asked Britain's MI-6 for help.

Within a minute MI-6 cabled the White House with this reply: "Tell the President he's holding the message upside down."

    Joke!!

This man had just settled into his seat next to the window on the plane when another man sat down in the aisle seat and put his black Labrador Retriever in the middle seat next to the man. The first man looks quizzically at the dog and asks why the dog is allowed on the plane. The man explained that he is a DEA agent and the dog is a "sniffing dog". His name is Sniffer and he's the best there is. I'll show you once we get airborne, when I put him to work."
The plane takes off, and once it has leveled out, the agent says "Watch this” He tells Sniffer to "search". The dog jumps down, walks along the aisle, and sits very purposefully next to a woman for a several seconds.
Sniffer then returns to its seat and puts one paw on the agent's arm. The agent says "Good boy", and he turns to the man and says: "That woman is in possession of marijuana, so I 'm making a note of her seat number and the authorities will apprehend her when we land."
"That's neat" replies the first man. Once again, the agent sends Sniffer to search the aisles. The Lab sniffs about, sits down beside a man for a few seconds, returns to its seat, and this time, he places TWO paws on the agents arm. The agent says, "That man is carrying cocaine, so again, I'm making a note of his seat number for the police."
"I like it!" says his seatmate. The agent then told Sniffer to "search" again. Sniffer walked up and down the aisles for a little while, sat downfor a moment, and then came racing back to the agent, jumped into the middle seat and proceeded to poop all over the place.
The first man is really grossed out by this behavior and can't figure out how or why a well-trained dog would act like that, so he asks the agent “What's going on?"
The agent nervously replied, "He just found a bomb!"

    save

nothing in this world is more important than having money in the bank... no matter how much u have on hand, cash is the most important factor of all...

    June 26

    july 1.....

July 1 mean a lot to me, not because of the change over from British Government to HK Government, because i'm a Canadian....  and of course we have to respect it highness statutory holiday status....

I watched the hand over in 1997 over live broadcast on TV, i also have the tape (yes, we use VCR in 1997) for those who don't know what it is or even used one, good for u... never realize i will be here in Macau when they are celebrating the 10th anniversary. (actually will be in HK over the weekend)

for those of you don't realize most of the HK Museums have an open door on july 1 and july 2... u have to get the ticket in advance from any box office in HK.... and i have to say, downloading MP3 from HK Government website is the fastest, 10 sec for one 4M MP3 file.....

there are a series of Documentary from TVB about the 10th anniversary, man in his early 30's with 48 stores gone bankruptcy; a depressed husband suicided because of the depreciation from the property they bought in 97; an owner of a nightclub in TST red light district closed his club; an actress who won the 2nd running up title of Miss HK .....

there are mean interesting stories happened over the past ten years.. for me, I started in casino since 1997…. What is your story?

    June 14

    June 13, 2007

It was June 13, 2007, i went out for dinner as usual.  I took the same path i always did to the Fountain and went to the restaurant for "Ox Tail" as they have it on special on Wednesday night.

I got there around 19:20 and ordered the dish, then the waitress told me the complimentary soup is out.....

anyway, i came all the way, for the Ox Tail, not the soup, so be it.... the dish got here, always good, finished it in about 20 mins, checked the bill and headed home.

when i left the restaurant, there were only a few drops, by when i got to the half way mark, it poured like there is no tomorrow.  i waited under one of stores and realized it wasn't going to stop....

something hitted me, then i walked home in the heaviest rain, the entire body is wet, but feel so good.

i knew i was there.... how about u?
